Scott Naismith graduated from Duncan and Jordanstone College of Art in 2000. Since graduating, he has worked as a full time artist from his studio in Glasgow and in 2003 joined the Creative Arts Department of Reid Kerr College in Paisley as a part time lecturer. Scott takes inspiration from the lochs, glens and isles of Scotland, using vivid colours and vigorous application to represent the fast changing light and transitional skies of Scotland. For Scott colour is of paramount interest; he uses it to express his emotional response to the landscape but also on a metaphorical level to express feelings of optimism and hope. His work can be found in private and public collections, and the British Medical Association in Edinburgh have recently acquired Scott's paintings.
