Gail Pope was born in 1957 in Dundee. She showed a natural talent for drawing and painting from an early age. To the frustration of her art tutors at school, Gail opted for a career in banking. With marriage and family commitments, Gail moved home a number of times with a spell in Glasgow, where she attended part-time studies at Glasgow School of Art.
After a 25 year period away from art, Gail picked up the paintbrush again after moving to East Lothian. She has received tutoring from well known Scottish painters, Ann Oram and George Birrell.
Gail is heavily influenced by the Scottish Colourists and the Dutch Masters and admires the work of Mary Feddon and Jack Morrocco.
Gail has been painting full time for several years now as the demand for her work has grown.
