Ann was born in Gourock, Renfrewshire in 1941. She attended evening classes at Glasgow School of Art while still at school in the 1950s.
She married in Switzerland and lived there for 10 years, returning to Scotland in 1971. She then resumed her art studies and graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 1985.
Ann is an elected member or the ROYAL SCOTTISH SOCIETY OF PAINTERS IN WATERCOLOUR 2001, ABERDEEN ARTIST SOCIETY in 2003 and ROYAL WATERCOLOUR SOCIETY in 2007. Her work is in public and private collections worldwide.
She is mostly influenced by the landscape around her and its history. She draws upon her childhood spent growing up beside the seaside source of inspiration, and today summer visits to the coast still bring back the excitement of land beside the sea. Ann currently lives in Aberuthven, Perthshire, where winter walks and the discoveries made off the beaten track inspired this current body of work.
