Alan M Bennett
Alan M Bennett
Scottish artist Alan M Bennett attended Edinburgh College of Art in the early 1980s. He has exhibited in numerous public and private galleries. His work has been included in the R.S.A. annual exhibitions. All of Alan’s paintings are done with acrylic, building up translucent layers of colour working finely with a small brush. This process takes time and requires a lot of patience.
Inspiration for Alan’s work comes from a range of sources; geometric abstract compositions, the latent surrealism of shop mannequin displays, and themes of harmony and balance. His still life works explore these ideas further, as he seeks to go beyond the mundane reality of the objects in their setting. He looks for an ambiguity of time and place while enjoying the visual contrasts of different material surfaces.
