Chris Nugent
Edinburgh based Chris Nugent graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in the mid Eighties. Since then he has continued to explore and develop a body of work which depicts the chaos and harmony that can exist in the spaces between the natural landscape and the urban sprawl.
Chris takes his inspiration from the built environments he sees on his various travels, documenting building materials and the way in which buildings themselves interact with their surroundings.
Working in mixed media allows Chris to capture the complex layering of texture, shape and form found throughout bustling locales. Using a variety of materials such as newsprint, polyfilla, acrylics, adhesives and house paint, he enters the realm of construction as much as artistic expression, creating images that feel as robust and immovable as the structures that inspired them.
