Eleanor Bartleman
Eleanor Bartleman
Born and raised on The Ayrshire coast, Eleanor Bartleman studied ceramics at Glasgow School of Art, setting up her first workshop soon after graduating. Currently based in North Devon, She worked as a lecturer in ceramics before returning to work as a full time maker.
Pursuing her interest in mythology and in particular The Beast Epic of Reynard the Fox, she weaves these various strands of inspiration into her own style of figurative ceramics.
Building and modelling each individual piece by hand, and in porcelain clay, Eleanor then applies further layers of detail with delicately applied glazes. The beautifully finished pieces offer vignettes of an expanded narrative, filled with emotion and wonder.
