Iain Holman
Iain Holman
Inverness born Iain Holman graduated with a Masters Degree in Fine Art from the Open College of the Arts in 2016. Iain now exhibits in selected galleries in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and Dublin. He currently lives and works from his home studio in Crawford, South Lanarkshire.
Iain’s work is driven and shaped by an enduring fascination with the human form. He often portrays his subjects as lone figures in confined spaces. He also applies this mastery of shape and form to floral studies. These are bursting with the same vibrancy and intimacy observed in his portraits.
Blending realism with abstraction, Iain uses oils on canvas to create expressive, patterned images that are both structured and immediate. He approaches each composition as a record of a particular moment. This leads to the finished piece forming a single part of what he considers to be an ongoing visual diary of his encounters and experiences.
