Jen Collee
Jen studied at Glasgow School of Art. She currently works from her studio in Edinburgh and has exhibited at the Scottish National Gallery, Visual Art Scotland and the Scottish Society of Artists.
Taking her inspiration from her surroundings in Edinburgh City to the Highlands, Jen sees the world as a sea of rhythms, energies and mathematical proportions, dividing up the individual components in her mind and filtering them through a more abstract lens in her studio.
Jen’s ability to use painting as a way of seeing extends to her process. Working in oils, she attempts to capture the emotional resonance of a scene rather than a direct depiction, and her sweeping strokes and blurred edges give the sense of a recollection that leaves us with only its purest elements.
