Jenny Matthews RSW

Jenny Matthews RSW is a Scottish artist known for her watercolour paintings of flowers and plants. Her approach to the medium combines her interest in detailed work with abstract effects created by water and pigments.

Jenny studied Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1986. Since then, she has exhibited regularly in galleries around the UK. For the last 4 years, Jenny has led the Scottish group of artists at the international watercolour convention in Italy, ‘Fabriano in Acquarello’.

A regular winner of prizes at the Royal Watercolour Society in London, Jenny was also shortlisted for the international watercolour prize ‘Marche d’Acqua’ in 2016. This was followed in 2017 by a 2-week artist residency at Fabriano’s Museum of Paper and Watermark. She was awarded RSW in 2022.

Jenny works from her Edinburgh studio, but when the flowers are in bloom, she can be found painting in her garden.
