Kirsty Macrae
Kirsty Macrae
London based Kirsty Macrae studied Painting and Printmaking at Glasgow School of Art. Inspired by the qualities of late eighteenth-century English slipware pottery, her ceramics are an exploration of gesture, form and colour.
Experimenting with various shapes and textures, Kirsty’s work is strongly influenced by her background as a painter. Employing traditional decorative pottery techniques alongside mark-making usually associated with abstract expressionist painting, she imagines clay as her canvas. She creates a beguiling array of lush, layered surfaces which adds depth and texture to her paintings.
