Luci Maclaren
Luci Maclaren
Luci was born in Perth, Scotland and studied History of Art at St Andrews University 1994-98 and Art at Santa Monica College, Los Angeles from 2004-6. Currently based in North London, Luci is represented by Thompson’s Galleries, London, Aldeburgh and Harpenden and Fraser Gallery, St Andrews.
Her work has always been dominated by colour and movement. She seeks to capture a moment in time, a feeling, the essence of someone or something, and the effect is striking, powerful and dynamic; both alive with movement and given space to breathe. Luci works mostly on raw linen as she loves the simple and natural way it works and sits with thick oil paint. It lends itself brilliantly to her Sporting Series and to her newer abstract Wild Swimming Series. Having always loved sport, trying to capture a moment and feeling from it remains the ultimate challenge for Luci. Sport unites and bonds families, friends, communities and nations and continues to inspire her like nothing else.
