Morag Donkin
Edinburgh-born artist Morag Donkin graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA Hons Painting degree in 2013. She was awarded the RSA Keith Prize in 2011 for best work by a student in their annual open exhibition. She also won the 2012 Fleming-Wyfold Award from the Fleming Collection.
Morag is primarily a landscape painter, with a true obsession with the trees in her locality. Much of her work depicts the forest walks of Midlothian, and she takes particular care with colour and light to capture the feel of the woodlands. She works in a range of media and predominantly works from photography. Her works explore the landscape through both intimate studies of light and shade on leaves or branches, and larger compositions of tree silhouettes framed against stark skies.
