Stanley Bird
Scottish artist Stanley Bird, formerly based in Glasgow is now living and working in Edinburgh. He practiced Law for many years before returning to painting full time and embracing his passion for animal portraiture.
Depicting a variety of subjects both great and small, Stanley has always had a great fondness for the natural world. He explores this interest in large scale, representational pieces and smaller, more intimate mixed media paintings of animals. His paintings are not only quirky and tongue in cheek but also technically accomplished.
Stanley works mainly in acrylics and mixed media on a variety of surfaces using whatever materials he needs to capture and accentuate the elusive character of his subject. From a bright scrap of wallpaper to ornate frames, every aspect of Stanley’s work is carefully considered and greatly admired.
