Born in 1998 in South Devon and growing up by the coast, Raine’s fascination with light and the atmospherics of the sea and sky were informed by her surroundings. Rose Raine studied Fine Art Painting at The University of Edinburgh. Since graduating in 2021, her works have been collected nationally and internationally and have been exhibited across the country. Rose’s work was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2022 and is Shortlisted for the Royal Scottish Academy Annual Exhibition 2023. Rose lives and works in London, and returns to her favourite places in Scotland to paint.
‘The idea of Immersion underpins my practice. Drawing inspiration from British Romanticism, my work explores light and movement, expressing the atmospherics and motion of the sea and sky. Creating work is a physical process. Oscillating between chance, control, and unpredictability, it involves dynamic gestures and sweeping movements to translate the energy of the landscape’s ever-changing state.”
