Scottish artist Gordon Wilson, born and raised in Glasgow, studied at Glasgow School of Art and gained experience in the arts industry as a designer and picture framer before moving into painting full time.
Gordon’s subject matter ranges from quirky portraiture to emotive land and seascapes, and his deep love of the West Coast shines through in the majority of his work. Considering himself to be someone who draws from his own emotional responses, his expressive work combines the ever changing moods of the landscape with those of the artist himself.
Working in oils, Gordon’s deft brushwork is a wonder to behold, with a deceptively simple stroke adding three dimensionality to his bold floral compositions or accentuating the proud expression of an old lady perched at the prow of a boat. This combination of well honed technical precision with a distinctly expressive element and a considerable dose of wry wit has given Gordon a wide and dedicated following.
