BRIAN HENDERSON : EYE LINE

16th - 30th Nov 2024

Brian Henderson’s paintings are works of wonder, from the selection of objects he chooses for each tableau to the tiny brushes that meticulously render them. Almost always painted at eye – level and from carefully set up and lit constructed models and arrangements, Brian’s paintings juxtapose traditional still life subjects with popular culture. Plastic Mickey Mouse and Tin Tin models share the space with musical instruments, crystal and glass, as Brian explores the properties of light on each surface.

The dappled light of Provence, the Italian waiter, the gondola gliding through the dark glassy canals of Venice; we are instantly taken to a shared feeling or a memory, a feeling of being there. This solo exhibition of over forty paintings spans all of Jack’s subject matter, and has many a story to tell. Often with a flash of gold!

JULIAN MASON : A PAINTED DAY

7th - 21st Sep 2024

Julian’s new collection of paintings explore the rugged isolation and beauty of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Out in all weathers with canvases strapped to his back, Julian enjoys the challenges of painting outdoors as much as the rewards – the feeling that he is a part of the landscape he is painting. The fleeting changes in weather and light mean it is impossible to capture a particular moment in the way a camera might; what Julian paints is the feeling and atmosphere of the whole day, conveying the majesty and the tranquility of some of Scotland’s most beautiful mountains and coastlines.
